Scratch Built Vidal Wagen

IN PROGRESS: Scratchbuilt Vidal Wagen

THE VIDAL WAGEN
The Vidal Wagen was a simple frame transport vehicle used to ferry the V2 from the rail siding to where it was transfered to the Meiler Wagen. As no company yet produce a smallscale Vidal Wagen I had to go about making one myself and as I am not a scratch build modeller I was not so sure about my chances of doing it well but I am happy with the final results. My first effort ended up in the bin but after chatting with a modeller called Jim Brown and a few other modellers from the Glasgow MAG who are more used to scratch building I was a bit more confident. The frame turned out to be quite simple and went together well the only real problem being getting the wheels to sit on the ground flush and making sure the V2 sat in its craddles well and with a little weight added to my V2 it is fine. Although I enjoyed this little experience of scratch building it is not something I will be rushing to do again :-) (Fair play to all the guys who build the masters for our kits, my hat goes off to you!!!!)

In the stage the Vidal is at it is not quite complete but the final additions are only minor and I just took the chance to get some photo's done while I could

Thanks a million to Jurgen Kurz for sending over plans of the Vidal Wagen in 1/72 scale to give me a starting point with the building.
